Bead Jewelry Making Video: Rose Ring

Posted by Eri

RoseRing

This week’s featured video class shows how to bead weave a Rose Ring.

I really like the simple design of this ring, and notice that you can use different color beads when you weave the “rose” part of the design.

My favorite is the dark red color, but I have made the ring with light pink beads as well.

With all the different shades of roses available today I think you could make the rose parts in any color you want!

The video shows how to make a size 6~7 ring using three different colors of swarovski 5301 bicone beads in 3mm size, 35 inches of monofilament string, and a flush cutter.

However, I also show how to add a few beads to the pattern to make a size 8~9 ring as well.

It may be hard to tell from the picture, but the way I make this is to weave one level of beads together to form the ring, and then I add more beads to create the second level.

With spring just around the corner (please hurry up and get warm!), this rose ring is a nice match for spring weather.

Puffy Heart and other Beaded Heart Jewelry for Valentines

Posted by Eri

If you are curious about what the handcrafted jewelry making phenomenon is all about, there are some beautiful Valentine’s Day heart jewelry designs I want to show you to get you motivated to try your hand at jewelry making.

First, a very quick background on the wonderful craft of handmade jewelry making.

This craft has become so popular these days that it’s almost certain you know somebody who at least makes jewelry as a hobby, if not as a home-based business.

By far the most common and easiest form of jewelry making is Bead Stringing.

With bead stringing all you have to do is select your favorite beads from an almost infinite variety of styles and colors and string them on a string.

Another style of jewelry making that is becoming more popular in the United States but has been very popular in my native country of Japan for the past 10 years or so is Bead Weaving.

With bead weaving you don’t just run a string straight through the beads.

Instead you actually weave the string through the beads following a set pattern, and there are an enormous variety of patterns and shapes you can make.

By far one of the most popular shapes to bead weave is the heart shape.

To give you a taste for the variety of heart shapes you can make with bead weaving, here are a few examples:

PuffyHeart
Puffy Heart Necklace

OpenHeartNecklace_Zoom
Open Heart

HeartRing_Zoom
Heart Ring

To make these beautiful heart designs all you need are some Swarovski crystal beads, monofilament string, and some common jewelry making parts and tools that you can find at any local craft shop or on the internet.

These are challenging designs to create and there are written patterns you can find on the internet to help you.

However, I learned a few years ago that most people have trouble understanding written patterns so I created online videos showing step-by-step how to make these beautiful designs.

Why not use Valentine’s Day as an incentive to give these designs a try yourself?

You can make these hearts for yourself to show off your Valentine’s Day spirit, or to make them as gifts for others.

You may find a new hobby for yourself, and possibly even the start of a new side business!

Please click on the link below to check out the various heart pattern video lessons in my library where you can watch short preview videos showing how to make each of these designs.

If after watching the preview videos you decide that bead weaving is a little beyond your aspirations at this point but you still are interested in trying your hand at jewelry making, then I recommend you sign up for my free Bead Stringing course on the website home page.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Bead Jewelry Making Video: Framed Pendant

Posted by Eri

framedpendant2_301_general

This week’s featured video class shows how to make a necklace piece that I call a Framed Pendant.

When making this piece we weave a “frame” of beads around a large centerpiece bead. In the video I use a Swarovski 1122 Rivoli gemstone in 16mm size.

I love the way a large rivoli gemstone like that sparkles in the light.

It really draws attention!

The remainder of the materials consist of 5301 bicone beads in 3mm size, a lot of size 11 seed beads, monofilament string, jump ring, extender, silver chain, flush cutter, chain nose pliers, and bent nose pliers.

Jewelry Making Professor Beginner Courses

Posted by Eri

Dear Aspiring Jewelry Maker,

If you want to learn how to make jewelry and you’re clueless about how to begin, or you’ve tried the frustrating experience of trying to learn jewelry making from books and you’ve just about given up, I have an answer for you.

I’ve proven to hundreds of people over the years that they can easily learn jewelry making, even if they think they are “all thumbs.”

You see, when you first learn how to make jewelry, you basically have three options:

OPTION 1: You can learn from studying books or following instructions on printed patterns.

OPTION 2: You can take a face-to-face jewelry making class taught by an instructor.

OPTION 3: You can learn on your own at home by watching a video of a class that shows an instructor teaching how to make a jewelry piece.

From my experience working with students face-to-face, and using video instruction, I believe that OPTION 3, watching videos, is by far the best.

So I recommend that you start out your jewelry making journey on the right foot by investing in a video course.

In the products listed below you will find home-study courses that are online or on DVD. I believe these courses are the most effective beginner tools on the internet.

Yours for Beautiful Jewelry Making,

Eri
